SPES Spring Research Conference (SRC) Management Committee Program Chair

Purpose

The purpose of the SRC Program Chair is to organize and manage the program for the SRC. This includes identifying topics, session organizers, and potential speakers.

Term of Office

The term of office is approximately 18 months

Responsibilities

The SRC Program Chair shall:

• Determine program topics, format, and schedule
• Select persons to organize program sessions
• Arrange for plenary session speakers
• Select a person to collect and organize contributed papers
• Arrange, when desired, for conference short courses or workshops
• Provide publicity material to conference organizers
• Contribute to conference planning and decision-making

Additional Activities (Desirable, not Mandatory)

Chair the opening and closing sessions at the conference

Qualifications

• Have the experience, stature, and contacts among statisticians in industry and technology to be able to assemble a high-quality program
• Be a member of ASA/SPES and IMS

• Some funds for support of plenary and invited speakers

Checklist/Timetable

• Provide conference publicity material to attendees at the preceding year's conference
• Provide input to publicity for the conference, as requested
• Complete the Invited and Plenary Program by December of the year preceding the SRC.
• Assure that abstracts are provided to IMS by February 1 of the conference year.
• Follow up with session organizers and speakers, as necessary

Election/Appointment Mechanism

The Program Chair is appointed by the SRC Management Committee approximately 18 mos. prior to the conference.
