Title

SPES Spring Research Conference (SRC) Management Committee Chair

Purpose

The purpose of the Management Committee Chair is to oversee the operations of the SRC, with input from and the concurrence of the Management Committee.

Term of Office

The term of office is three years.

Responsibilities

• Determine conference locations and host organizations
• Recruit and appoint, with Management Committee concurrence, a Program Chair and Local Arrangements Chair for each annual SRC
• Provide advice and assistance to conference organizers in determining the program's content and format, and in making local arrangements
• Oversee the financial affairs of the SRC, including the preparation of a budget and the approval of expenses

Additional Activities (Desirable, not Mandatory)

• Help publicize the conference
• Prepare a final report on each conference and send it to the sponsoring organizations
• Review and update the agreement between the sponsoring organizations on SRC operations
• Prepare, or review and update, the conference manual

Qualifications

• Be a member of ASA/SPES and IMS
• Be familiar with the operations and goals of the SRC

Checklist/Timetable

• Select the conference site at least 18 months in advance of the conference
• Determine Program and Local Arrangements responsibilities at least one year in advance of the conference

Election/Appointment Mechanism

The Management Committee Chair is appointed jointly by the Executive Committees of the sponsoring organizations
