Purpose

Manage the nomination and selection processes for the Statistics in Chemistry Award.

Term of Office

Yearly - Renewable

Responsibilities

• Acquire and maintain qualified committee members, including both chemists and statisticians.
• Place the call for nominations in appropriate publications.
• Manage the committee's selection process.
  • Acknowledge nominations.
  • Send a letter of congratulations to the recipients' sponsor.
  • Send letters of regret to non-recipients' sponsors.
• Send ASA headquarters the recipients' names and Social Security numbers.
• Keep the chair of the Chemometrics Committee informed of key events.

Qualifications

• Member of ASA-SPES.

• Copies of previous calls for nominations, letters of congratulation, letters of regret.

Calendar

• October-December - Issue call for nominations, with a May 1 (or earlier) deadline.
• January-May - Acknowledge nominations.
• May-June - Judge nominations and select the winner. Send letters of regret. Send letter of congratulations and notify ASA.
