! Recognition of Stu Hunter's contributions to the Q&PR Conference:

! Will honor Stu at dinner on the first evening of the conference

! Ask Stu Hunter to give the Keynote Address after dinner

! Ideas for gifts: travel organizer (palm pilot), leather attachJ or folio, money holder with a special "stat" logo relating to Stu's accomplishments (Lisa knows a custom jeweler), carved wooden tray, crystal globe, Nambe tray, etc.

! The conference fund will cover the gift (< $600)

! An draft outline of each day's events has been completed:

! Day 1:

8am - noon Two workshops being offered. (optional)

noon - 1pm Registration

1pm - 5pm Keynote address, panel and break-out sessions

5pm Mixer and poster competition

6pm Dinner

7pm - 9pm Stu Hunter's Keynote Address

! Day 2:

7:30 Continental breakfast

8am - noon sessions

noon - 1pm lunch

1pm - 5pm Keynote address, panel and break-out sessions

5:30 Dinner

8pm Social (possibly a magician)

! Day 3:

8am - noon sessions

noon - 3pm tour with lunch

! Scholarships available for students: 5 registration, 5 hotel, and 30 meal scholarships

! Advertising is progressing well and on schedule.

! Thinking of having software demonstrations in the lobby during the conference - such as, SAS, MathSoft, book companies, etc.

! In general, the planning for the conference is on schedule and progressing smoothly.




3. 2000 Conference (Joint with SRC)

! There are some difficulties finding a conference location and hotel accommodations at a low cost. Continuing to look for other options.

! Initial concerns with contribution funds have been resolved.


4. 2001 Conference

! Jeff spoke with Paul Tobais at SEMATECH and Paul, on behalf of SEMATECH, has agreed to host the 2001 Conference.

! SEMTECH will be looking for both a university and an industry partner
