97.01 Discussed * items of the 1997 Conference Post Mortem. These items are an opportunity for improvement. Felt the short course was "too high" level - in the future need a better shortcourse description. Discussed paying someone to update the manual.

97.02 Include a section in the manual about the taking pictures; attendees seemed to enjoy the photos.

2. Review of 1998 Conference - Ai-Chu Wu

ï Web page has been updated advertising this conference - agenda is included.

ï Agenda should be sent with next set of minutes. Ai-Chu will send copy to Lisa to be included since Web Page does not print "pretty".

ï Waiting for replies from George Box and Brad Efron.

ï Possible contributed paper session.

ï One-day workshop on reliability by Bill Meeker has been finalized.

ï Brochures for the 1998 conference will be set out at the JSM 1997 in Anaheim. Ai-Chu will send brochure to Veronica.

3. Other Business

ï Veronica suggested Peter John's presentation as an addition to the ASA Distinguished Lecture Series Video Tapes and have QPRC fund the video.

ï 1999 Conference - Tim Keyes

Would possible like the link the theme of the conference with the 6-sigma quality effort.

Conference site at GE's R&D Corporate Headquarters.

Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute has accepted co-host conference.

Union college may consider co-hosting the conference.

Possible dates are the 2nd or 3rd week in May.

The 1998 Quality & Productivity Research Conference will be on May 20 to 22 at the Hilton Hotel in Santa Rosa, California. HP and UC Berkeley are co-sponsors and Ai-Chu Wu and C. S.
