97.07 Almost finished. It is a compilation of past conference attendees and the mailing list of the Q&P Section.

98.01 Closed. Six students received scholarships and are presenting at the conference.

New Action Items

98.04 Committee will develop recognition for Stu Hunter at the 1999 conference.

2. Review of 1998 Conference - Ai-Chu Wu

! Program updated with contributed sessions. Available on the WWW (see URL).

! To date, 48 have registered (approx. 5-10% of total will register on-site).

! 22 people already signed up for short course on reliability.

! 15 people signed up for the HP tour.

! Student scholarships were a success. Six students won scholarships and will be presenting contributed papers at the conference.

! A special effort has gone into advertising the conference. A letter describing the conference was sent out to the VP of Quality to top companies. Also, the distribution list has a column for email, which is a good way to reach people.

! Contributed sessions have been arranged, with 14 papers submitted.

! The conference is well organized and everything going according to schedule.

! Tim will talk about 1999 conference at the dinner on the 20th.

3. Review of 1999 Conference - Angie Neff (sitting in for Tim Keyes)

! Conference set for May 19-21. Location is GE Corporate R&D.

! Theme: 6-sigma quality, reliability and design

! Preliminary list of speakers include: George Box, Stu Hunter, Ron Snee, Wayne Nelson and Josef Schmee.

! Tim will talk about conference at the 1998 conference at the dinner on the 20th.

! Having somebody develop the web page for the conference.

4. Other Business

! 2000 conference set with Boeing and joint with SPES. The focus will be on reliability. Contacts are: Andrew Booker, Kayla Stratton and Rita Lai.

! Brainstorm on host for 2001 conference. Previous winner of the Malcolm Baldridge Award may be a good host, since they are motivated to share their success stories.

! On May 19th, at the conference, a Q&P Section meeting to discuss the vision and mission will be held. If interested in attending, see Veronica for more details.
