Formal approval of minutes May 18th , 1999 - Minutes approved

Treasurer's Report - Leroy Franklin - Acct 1: Q&P Section Acct (20K acct, Pubs 2-3K, Newsletter 2-3K, Phone $500-$1000) - income from dues and publications, Acct 2: Q&P Conference Acct - conference is a separate account 30-35K profit from conference will provide 5K to general Q&P account; Acct 3: Joint acct with SPES; Acct 4: Mary Natrella Fund (approx 14K)

All accounts are positive.

Past-Chair Report - Veronica - Operating Manual: everyone will be asked to update their sections. Change to chairs description to add scheduling of Q & P meetings at JSM.

Chair - Tom Boardman - New Officers announced

Chair -Elect: Eric Langergren - Chair elect to sponsor the strategy meeting ; add to the operating manual. Past, Chair and Elect plus any other Q&P folks.

Program 99 - Dan McCarville - Issue with the Status of Discussant and Speaker being equivalent, and hence could not do both.

Program 2000 - Jose Rameriz - 2 Invited sessions: Winsom Tam Chair: Developments in Automotive Industry, Developments in Split Plot Experiments, Chair: Session 3, With SPES, Isolated Statisticians

Newsletter and Publications - Lisa Moore has noted an overbilling situation in the latest newsletter and is working diligently with the ASA office to rectify. Great frustration in getting newsletter articles for the newsletter. Should approach Tom for general meeting info, Rita Lai for 2000 Q&P Conf, Veronica for Mary Natrella Fund, Angie Neff for electronic conference attendance, Ron Snee for the future of Six Sigma, Jose for Program 2000, Dan for Program 99

Webmaster - Web is up to date.

Council of Sections - Lonnie Vance - Highlights from meetings at JSM: ASA is asking the sections to provide statistical reviews to non statistical articles. Proposal for a section on Non-Parametrics Statistics it was accepted. ASA dues will go from $74 to $80. Budget for 2000 approved, $100K discretionary fund for proposals. Do any of the sections want demographics on members - Mary Fleming (Assoc. Exe Dir )

Continuing Education - Steve Zayek - Bill Meeker to do a one day, Jeff Wu on DOE, Approach Ron Snee for 6 Sigma,

Sematech/NIST - would be willing to publicize the Mary Natrella fund on their web site.

1999 Q&P - 330 participants from 10 countries, The conference will have cleared 33K +/- 10%

2000 Q&P - Seattle, at U of Washington joint with Boeing, Rita Lai and Joe Booker

Committee to nominate fellows - Joe Skwish - Suggestions for this year. If you have suggestions, then please also have a person to have to spearhead the committee. Could use some more nominations.

Mary Natrella Fund - Meeting on Tuesday - will get back to committee via email.

Mixer info - Tuesday at 5:30 with SPES.

Membership Committee - Can we solicit the Q and P conference attendees to Advertise the Q and P section.

New business:

ASA request for dues increase - rejected

Charter revision - no

Schedule for next conference call - (The sec and chair settle on week, sec polls participants, select date) Suggest the 2nd week in October - Wednesday preferable. Oct 6th.

Action Items:

  1. Tom, Geoff and Eric to appoint committee or an successor to the CE role.
