About the Newsletter
The Computing and Graphics Newsletter is distributed to members of the
Statistical Computing
and
Statistical Graphics
Sections of the
ASA.
Their annual dues assist section activities. If you are an ASA
member, but do not belong to either of these Sections, please consider
joining. If you are not an ASA member, but find the articles in the Newsletter
interesting, you might want to give our
organization a look.
Editorial Staff
The Newsletter is produced by two volunteer editors, one from
each of the Computing and Graphics Sections, with articles from both
ASA members and non-members. Our current editors are
Juana Sanchez
(Computing) and
Andreas Krause
(Graphics).
We are eager to hear both from people who receive the Newsletter
regularly as well as interested visitors who have examined our site.
Consider giving us feedback about how we can
improve this service.
Online Issues
As a service to our members, we make PDF (and for some older
newsletters, PS) versions of the complete Newsletter available for
downloading. Even if you are not a member, feel free to browse
through our collection. If you like what you see, consider joining our
sections!

If you are interested in statistical computing
and visualization, we strongly encourage you to become a member of
either the Computing or Graphics Sections of the ASA. Your dues
will cover production of this Newsletter as well as a host of
Section initiatives aimed at improving the field of Statistics.
For example, each Section sponsors student paper competitions,
designed to help students with interests in computing and graphics.
Each co-sponsors various meetings like the
Symposia on the Interface
between Computing Science and Statistics. We also promote continuing
education courses at the annual ASA meetings.
Please check out the Sections' Web sites below to get a
complete list of what kinds of projects we are sponsoring. If we've
sold you on becoming a member, head straight for the
ASA Online Membership Form .
