Review of Budget
We reviewed the budget on the web
site.
Nagambal said
that she had accidentally reduced the request for statfests from $10K
to $9K, but she
believes the budget can be modified through August.
JSM Minneapolis
This year we're cosponsoring a roundtable
luncheon, but
we should try to organize a session for next year. Nagambal said
she would try
to put together a session on environmental justice.
Ramon said he would work on a session on "the Hispanic
paradox."
Business meeting: Very few committee
members
came to
last year's JSM,but several people have said they plan to come this
year. It's
scheduled for August 8 at 7 am. The reception
is on August 9 at 6 pm.
Student attendance
Nagambal would like to bring a student, and
mentor her.
We have $2K this
year to bring students, so we could bring another
one.
CMS membership at-large
Nagambal is thinking of a mailing list for
networking
and mentoring, not just for announcements. Debby will talk to the
administrator of
amstat-line.org to review the management of mailing
lists.
StatFest
Nagambal reviewed the history of the
StatFests. The
first one was held at Spelman College, in Atlanta in
November 2001. This was followed by StatFests held at Hampton
University,VA, Mehary
Medical College, Nashville, TN, NC State University and the most recent
StatFest
held this past spring in Hawaii. None are currently
scheduled.
Ramon will reach out to people at Chicago State University.
Nagambal has been talking to some
people in Florida, in
which
case Bhramar could
get involved.
We may have one more telephone meeting
before
August.
