  • Macalester College, Tenure Track Statistician
    Macalester College is seeking to hire a tenure-track statistician to begin Fall
    2009. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in an area of
    applied statistics. Rank is open. By the time of appointment, candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in statistics, applied statistics, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate excellence in teaching, who can develop a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates, and who can contribute to the broad intellectual life of the College.

    You will join a vibrant department that o ers a major track in Applied Mathematics and Statistics alongside mathematics and computer science. In addition, our minor in statistics is the largest at the College.

    You will be one of three statisticians in the department and will be teaching
    introductory and intermediate courses as well as advanced courses for the major. Our department values innovation, interdisciplinary teaching and research. Approximately half of all Macalester students take one or more of our statistics courses and we have excellent connections with majors in the physical and biological sciences as well as the social sciences.

    Macalester is a highly selective, private liberal arts college that emphasizes
    excellence in teaching, civic engagement, and bringing together diverse cultures. Students come from 48 states of the US and 75 countries around the globe, with a high fraction of international students. Our location in the dynamic Minneapolis/St. Paul cities offers broad cultural opportunities, a friendly lifestyle, and proximity to major research institutions including the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic as well as numerous corporate, government, and civic organizations.
